Once upon a long time ago, I was a junior high and high school teacher as well as a principal (briefly). Between career changes I traveled, wrote and self-published a book under a pen name as part of my personal healing endeavor. Re-entering the workforce as a Lifestyle Educator, I partnered with doctors in Functional Medicine. I do my best to weave together knowledge gleaned from pursuing academic paths with Wisdom gained through lived experience.
The archetype of Wounded Healer hums in my bones and gently reminds me to look for hidden gifts during dark or difficult times. My devotion to energy medicine and mindfulness practices as a way of life led me to become a Reiki Master Teacher, and I have guided several cohorts through their year-long mastership course. I am deeply connected to the land where I was raised and growing up, I had a close friendship with a horse named Star. So, it makes sense that Gestalt Equine and Nature-based therapy are central to my offering.
The past three and a half years I have been honing my therapy skills in a private practice setting treating clients who suffer from mental anguish, unhealthy relationship patterns, physical pain, persistent emotional upset, or an overall feeling of disconnection from life's simple pleasures. My goal is to consistently offer a warm, professional, relationally attuned therapeutic experience combined with viable methods that work. I tend to see clients through double vision, focusing on strengths with a soft gaze upon obstacles that get in the way. Who I am as a therapist is who I am as a person: Practical + I believe in magic.
